This exciting and fresh new team is expected to develop rapidly over the year in terms of sales, product and market share.  

Based in the Manchester contact centre this highly focused team is an important area of STA Travel UK business, with 2008 sales to date already 100% up on 2007 the expectation for 2008 and beyond will be to continue to drive groups business.

Groups handle a diverse array of clients, from school educational trips to tailor-made sports tours to corporate incentive trips. They attend many travel shows, events and client presentations. In 2008 we are also planning several “experiences” relating to our key clients in order to build our relationships.

By maximising profitability, developing both the product and market, maintaining service level agreements and building external relationships through regular client contact, this is a fantastic opportunity to stamp your mark in a new area with huge growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, pricing and selling tailor-made group products over the phone

  • Managing a portfolio of group bookings and key clients

  • To maximise and work to budgeted yield and revenue targets

  • Monitoring and delivering expectations through core standards and best practice

  • Developing the sales and exposure of STA Travel groups business through existing and new client relationships.

  • Work with the Sales & Development Manager on providing potential new business leads and investigating commercial opportunities with existing and potential suppliers

  • Proven track record in sales and service
  • Excellent awareness of the product portfolio and STA Travel markets
  • Effective communicator across all media
  • A team player
  • Enthusiasm, drive and persistence to maintain activity levels and achieve targets
  • Thrives in a demanding and varied environment
  • A very keen eye for detail
  • Commercial awareness
  • An understanding of CRS and booking procedures
  • Group Travel experience would be a distinct advantage
